2 1/2 weeks old!

Carson is about 2 1/2 weeks old and I can't believe has been here for that long. He is such a good little boy. We are starting to get somewhat of a routine down. He usually only gets up once a night to eat. It has been pretty nice. Don't get me wrong we have our nights when he is up almost all night, but for the majority he sleeps really well. I'm really sad that I am going to have to go back to work. I never thought that I would want to be a stay at home mom, but I'm starting to see why people don't want to come back to work. I love being at home with Carson and sometimes just watching him while he sleeps. Staying at home is not a possibility for me right now. Maybe when Zack finishes school I can stay home.

In other news....our chihuahua Gus had to have some pretty serious surgery this past week. He started acting funny about a week after Carson was born. I went and saw him at the duplex and he acted a little better, but by the end of last week he still was not acting like himself. Zack took him to the vet and it was decided that he had a pinched nerve. Saturday, Gus' back legs stopped working. He didn't move them at all. Our vet is closed on Saturdays, so we had to wait until Monday morning. Zack called me when he got done at the vets office on Monday morning and told me that things didn't look good. The vet told him that we could either take Gus to a surgeon in Austin for emergency surgery or we were going to have to make a decision about putting him down. We decided to take him to the Austin vet. He had his surgery and got to come home yesterday. He has a 6 inch incision on his spine and is having to do some serious rehab. We take him back in 2 weeks to have the stitches removed and he will see the physical therapist that day as well.

For everyone who is keeping up with the house....We are making progress. It is not enough to move in yet, but it is progress. I don't go over there as often anymore, mostly bc of Carson. We have been staying at my parents house since Carson came home from the hospital. It has been amazing the help that we have gotten. My parents are saints for taking us in, and even more of saints for taking our dogs in as well. I love being here, but it's hard at the same time. I feel like my dad is going crazy. He is a very organized person and with a baby you can only be so organized. All of Carson's stuff is driving him crazy. I'm sure that he is ready for his life to go back to normal. I really wanted to be moved into our house by the time I go back to work, but I'm just not sure if that is going to happen. It would be great if we were, but if we're not we have a great place to stay.

Here are Carson's two week pics!

I think that his hair is getting a little lighter. He is such a cute little boy...I'm a little bias though.

Dr. appointment

We had our first dr's appointment today. Carson got to see Dr. Barron for the first time. She is great and really made Zack and I feel good about everything that we have been doing. Carson is now down to 8.4 lbs. She said that it was a good weight and he was within the normal range of weight loss for an infant. She wasn't concerned about his jaundice. She said that his Billy Ruban score wasn't bad enough to even need more blood work done. We are just suppose to watch his skin color and if it gets more yellow to call her. Here is a picture of my handsome man.
Here are the two most important men in my life!!

Carson Brooks Miller

Carson made his appearance on Monday, August 4th at 4:47 p.m. He was a very healthy boy weighing in at 9.5 pounds and a whopping 22 inches long. I started having contractions around 8:00 Sunday night. I tried to go to bed and around 11:30 Zack and I decided that we should probably get the car seat ready to go even if nothing happened because Weds would be here before we knew it. We both decided that we would try to get some sleep. Zack fell right to sleep and I laid in bed until about 2:45 with these contractions. Finally I paged the Dr. and she told me to go ahead and head to the hospital. We got to the ER around 3:15 and were in our room in Labor and Delivery by 3:30. They got my IV in and I was settled in and they offered me my epidural. I decided that I was going to wait and get it when the Dr. came by in the morning. I didn't want to slow anything down. I was in A LOT of pain by the time the Dr. came. My dad stopped by before his C-section and pretty much told me I was an idiot for not getting my epidural earlier and getting some sleep. I decided that I had had enough pain and got my epidural around 8:30. Things were FANTASTIC after that. The epidural didn't hurt either. I was afraid it was going to be terrible, but it wasn't. The rest of the day went by fairly fast. The Dr. came at 4:10 to check me and we were ready to start pushing. At 4:47 Carson made his appearance. Once again pushing wasn't bad either. I am shocked at how smoothly things went. We are out of the hospital now and had our first night with no nurses. It went pretty well. Zack had to do some of the patrol route last night so my mom took Carson until about 1:00 when Zack was able to get back. He slept and ate pretty well. We are still trying to get used to eachother. Carson has his first Dr's appointment today at 2:15. We will update later this week with what they say. Until then Zack and I will be loving on our little boy!!

There is light at the end of the Tunnel!

Carson Brooks Miller’s Notice of Eviction!
If you have not made an appearance before August 6, 2008 you will be evicted from your current residence!
Oh my sweet little Carson....the time has come and you are going to have to come out of your safe place into this scary big world! We are so ready for you to be here. I have so many questions....who will you look like?? Will you be a paci baby or a thumb sucker? Will you have your daddy's persistant personality or will you be stubborn like your mom? I think we already know that you are somewhat stubborn. I watched the news last night and I can only imagine what our world will be like when you are grown. It scares me, but I know that your dad and I are going to raise you the best we can and you will be able to accomplish anything. I am so ready to meet you and hold you and your dad is too. We were at lunch today and I looked over at him and he had this huge grin on his face...I asked him what he was smiling about and he told me he was so excited to know that he was going to be able to meet you by next Weds. It was the sweetest thing. I keep imagining what he is going to look like holding you for the first time, and I'm finally going to get to see that. It brings me so much joy to know that your daddy loves you so much already! We are so blessed to have you joining us on our adventure of life and I pray everyday that God will guide us with our parenting. We love you little Carson and can't wait to meet you!
